Tip of the Month Recipient | The Fiely Family

All tips given the month of May will be donated to the Erik Fiely family of Fort Recovery. Erik is 43 years old, husband to Kristy, and father to Marlee (18), Milo (16), Chase (15), Vayda (10), Kip (7), Zeke (4), and Agnes (2). He handles purchasing at Micromatics in Berne, IN. His wife, Kristy is a homemaker and homeschool teacher to their younger children. The oldest three attend Fort Recovery High School.
On April 14, 2025, Erik was finishing an evening with the Mary Help of Christians (MHC) Young Men’s Youth Group in Fort Reovery when the person beside him noticed he was having stroke-like symptoms and called for help. He was taken by squad to Mercer Health Hospital in Coldwater and was then careflighted to OSU in Columbus. By 1:00 am he was in surgery where they discovered he had a massive stroke from a burst vessel in his brain. His surgery was sucessful and part of his skull was removed to allow for the swelling during the healing process. He is still in critical care and is slowly recovering. He was taken off of a ventilator April 29. He continues to have loss of feeling on his left side. The next year will consist of therapies and follow up appointments.
Erik is an active member witihin the community and is a part of the Fort Recovery Village Council, MHC Catholic Church Parish Council, Knights of Columbus, and leader of MHC Young Men’s Youth Group. He also loves spending time with his family, having campire and BBQs, and shooting guns. The Fiely family is very faithful and continue to paise the Lord for their blessings.
