Tip of the Month Recipient | The Frantz Family

All tips given the month of January will be donated to the Gabriella Frantz family of New Knoxville. Gabriella is four years old and is the daughter of Josh and Kayla Frantz, and younger sister to Sophia (13), Amelia (8), and Ramona (1). Josh works at Crown in Fort Loramie as a manufacturing trainer and Kayla currently stays home with Gabriella and her three other children.

During Kayla’s first ultrasound, doctors found that Gabriella had cysts on her brain, scoliosis, and one of her eyes was not developing. Doctors discussed termination with Josh and Kayla, after explaining that the quality of life would not be there, if she was able to take her first breath at all. Gabriella’s family knew that wasn’t even an option to consider and that God had a plan for her no matter what. On March 10, 2021, Kayla was induced and gave birth to a healthy baby girl despite abnormalities. Gabriella was diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder called Aicardi syndrome.

This diagnosis came with frequent trips to see doctors and specialist for neurology for seizures and brain activity, ophthalmology for vision, ocularist for a prosthetic eye, orthopedics for future corrective surgery, gastroenterology, urology, developmental pediatrics, physical therapy, and occupational therapy.

Seizures continue to be a daily battle for Gabriella, but her medication, diet and limiting triggers has helped reduce them. For over the past year Kayla has been working with “4 Paws for Ability” to obtain a service dog for Gabriella to help detect seizures before they occur so safety measures can be taken. In 2026, Gabriella and her family will undergo training with “4 Paws for Ability” and will be placed with an alert seizure dog in the fall.

Gabriella is currently thriving in preschool beside her peers enjoying the gift of life. She also enjoys singing, dancing, spending time with family and taking trips to church, the library and stores.

Your generous donations will help with Gabriella’s on-going expenses that arise with a medically complex child. Let us keep the Frantz family in our prayers.
