Tip of the Month Recipient | The Ausborn Family

All tips given the month of July will be donated to the Sophia and Lia Ausborn family of Versailles. Sophia is 11 years old and her sister Lia is 9 years old, they are the daughters of Cody and Lindsey.  Lindsey works at the Versailles Elementary and Middle Schools and Cody works for C&S Painting out of Versailles.

In October 2024, Sophia developed a common acute illness that triggered an autoimmune response in her body that attacks the small blood vessels. She developed purpura, a vascular rash which indicated bleeding. She also developed swelling of her joints, muscle and abdominal pain, and severe fatigue which left her unable to walk. She was hospitalized and  diagnosed with Henoch Schonlein purpura. Since then, she was hospitalized twice. Her case has been one of the worst and most complex that Dayton Children’s has assisted with. When she was hospitalized the third time, there was bleeding in her bowels, and they had to shut down her digestive system for a few days to let her digestive tract heal. She is currently at home, but has to go to Dayton Children’s twice a month to see specialists. She is also on medications that shut down her immune system as a part of her healing. The family’s hope is that she can be taken off of her medication in a year and be healed. Sophia has been involved in 22 musicals, and 14 of those theater shows were directed by her mother, Lindsey. Sophia enjoys singing, hanging out with friends, and animals.

Lia started exhibiting signs of absent seizures in December of 2024. It began to affect her vision, giving her intense headaches, and episodes of losing bodily functions as the seizures increased in frequency and intensity. She was having up to 30 seizures a day. Thankfully her father, Cody, has been able to spend his time caring for her. Cincinnati Children’s diagnosed her with absent epilepsy, and since then, she has been on a medication to try to control the seizures. She does still have some along with weekly headaches. Although this could be a life-long condition with uncertain limitations as she grows, we ask for your fervent prayers that Lia will grow out of this health condition. Lia also loves theater, art, coloring, reading, and playing video games with friends.

Let us keep the Ausborn family in our daily prayers. Your generous tip will help cover their medical bills. Thank you and God bless!
