All tips given the month of October will be donated to the Sophia Warner family of Minster. Sophia is the 2-year-old daughter of Logan and Mariah Warner. Logan works at Honda and Mariah currently stays home with Sophia who she cares for full-time.
Sophia was born 9 weeks premature in April 2023. She weighed less than two pounds at birth so she required oxygen and feeding support for two months in the NICU at Miami Valley Hospital. A couple of months after being discharged, Sophia was admitted to Dayton Children’s for treatment of an unknown respiratory virus and the development of GI issues causing her discomfort and frequent vomiting. Sophia was placed on oxygen and a feeding tube for several months. As 2023 concluded, Sophia’s GI symptoms continued to worsen, and she was scheduled to have her first colonoscopy. The doctors discovered Sophia had Very Early Onset Inflammatory Bowel Disease. She was placed on several drugs including high dose steroids to help get the inflammation under control. In January 2024, Sophia was diagnosed with Dyskeratosis Congenita – Hoyeraal-Hreidarsson Syndrome. DKC – HHS is an ultra rare genetic disorder that causes the telomeres in DNA to shorten at a much faster rate and affects the immune system, large bowel, brain, lungs and overall development. Immediately after her diagnosis, they were told Sophia would need a bone marrow transplant, which she received in May 2024 at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. The transplant was successful, and Sophia was able to be discharged home a month later. After the transplant Sophia spent the next few months at home happy and healthy. However, in December 2024, Sophia began having increased GI issues again. From December 2024 to June 2025 Sophia was in and out of the hospital receiving treatments and exploring different surgical options for her rare disorder. In June of this year, she had surgery to remove her colon and have an ileostomy placed. After this surgery, Sophia’s overall health improved, making her more comfortable and happier. Although the surgery helped tremendously, she is currently dealing with a small bowel structure that is almost completely closed off. She received medical treatment for this, but decided to stop due to its ineffectiveness. Doctors are currently exploring new surgical options to fix this issue that Sophia has been facing.
The Warner family enjoy hiking and going on bike rides as a family. Let us keep the Warner family in our daily prayers. Your generous tip will help cover their ongoing medical bills. Thank you and God bless!
