Tip of the Month Recipient | The Gabe Andrews Family

All tips given the month of October will be donated to the Gabe Andrews family of Coldwater. 15-year-old Gabe is the son of single mother Meredith May. In November 2019, he was diagnosed with metastatic osteosarcoma. That is the term for bone cancer which spreads from the bone in which the cancer began to other parts of the body, usually the lungs, which was the case for Gabe. He has undergone chemotherapy to try to remove the cancer from his body, but all treatments were unsuccessful. In order to remove the cancerous cells in his left femur, his left leg was amputated in February 2020. He recently began to learn to walk with a prosthetic leg that he has. It is one that learns with his body, and he is so grateful and determined to be active again. The Coldwater athlete participated in football, wrestling, and track. He also has a love for automobiles. In April and May 2020, he had surgery on his lungs where the surgeons removed 70 tumors from one lung and 40 tumors from the other. There are still tumors in his lungs, but they are growing slowly, and he is stable. In order for Gabe to have extra care, both Gabe and Meredith had to move in with Margaret Kahlig Klosterman, Meredith’s mother. Gabe is an incredibly strong young man who has a faithful and loving heart. He hopes to write a book and speak to groups of people to inspire them because of the struggles he is overcoming with power of prayer. Let us keep the Andrews family in our daily prayers. Your generous tip will help cover their medical bills. Thank you and God bless!
