Tip of the Month Recipient | The Goettemoeller Family

All tips given the month of January will be donated to the Aaron Goettemoeller family of New Weston. Aaron is 8 years old, son to Eric and Kim Goettemoeller, and brother to Ian (11), Lauren (7), Logan (5), and Levi (1). Aaron is a second grader at St. Henry. In September 2023 he injured his leg during recess. Because of continued pain in his leg he was taken to a doctor’s  isit where the doctor ordered an x-ray because the pain was near his growth plate. The x-ray showed evidence of a tumor and Aaron was referred to Nationwide Children’s Hospital where a bone biopsy was preformed and a tumor on Aaron’s tibia was confirmed. He was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in October 2023. He then started chemotherapy at Columbus Children’s Hospital for several weeks of treatment. On December 18, 2023 surgeons removed the upper few inches of Aaron’s tibia and replaced it with an artificial bone that can grow with him during the next few years. The surgery was successful, but the following day required an emergency surgery to place a wound vac because of swelling that was choking off the muscle they had placed in front of the tibia. Aaron was dismissed on December 22 and able to spend Christmas with his family. They hope to remove the wound vac before the end of the 2023 year. Aaron will start with physical therapy and his chemotherapy will continue until May 2024. The rod in the artificial tibia can be extended as Aaron grows; when he is finished growing, the artificial tibia will be replaced with an adult sized piece. Aaron loves baseball, basketball, soccer, and playing outside with his siblings. Let us keep the Goettemoeller family in our daily prayers. Your generous tip will help cover their ongoing medical bills. Thank you and God bless!
